St Barnabas 2The Parish Health Ministry of Episcopal Retirement Homes and the Alzheimer’s Association are sponsoring a March 4 event focusing on connecting with, and caring for, victims of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia.

The event titled “Alzheimer’s and Dementia: Caring and Communication That Works,” is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Friday, March 4, at the Tri County Assembly Church, 7350 Dixie Highway, in Fairfield, Ohio. St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Montgomery is a supporter of the event.

The keynote speaker is Lisa Genova, Ph.D., author of the book “Still Alice” which became a movie of the same title. It is the story of a Harvard professor whose battle with Alzheimer’s disease dramatically changes her life. Ms. Genova, a Harvard-trained neuroscientist, will discuss her motivation and the insights she gained in writing the book.  

Also featured will be Teepa Snow, M.S., an occupational therapist and educator on dementia, who is to discuss caring for victims of Alzheimer’s and related dementia, and providing for the person’s spiritual needs.
