NEEDS Board Members led by Frank Morris, President, prepare for schools supply drive at the Kenwood Baptist Church.

The Northeast Emergency Distribution Service  (NEEDS) has announced that it is time for its annual NEEDS School Supply Drive.  It is the desire of the NEEDS board to make certain all underprivileged students in the northeast quadrant of Hamilton County receive essential school supplies prior to the start of the school year. Annually, in August, the board and multitudes of volunteers gather at the Kenwood Baptist Church early in the morning to begin the momentous task of organizing school supplies to be distributed to local schools. The districts that receive the items are Princeton, Sycamore, Madeira and Deer Park Schools along with any private school within those borders. School nurses in these districts notify NEEDS with a count of indigent children as well as the list of school supplies. From these lists community groups and churches are assigned specific lists so that no child is left without basic school supplies. Most donated items are new.

This year the NEEDS School Supply Drive will be held on Tuesday, August 26th at the Kenwood Baptist Church, 8341 Kenwood Road, 45236, beginning at 8:30 am.

Volunteers are needed to help sort; other volunteers are needed to make deliveries to the schools. If you, your community group, or church is interested in collecting, donating or volunteering, please contact Bev Busemeyer [email protected].
